Dear recorders...

The swifts that scream and dart over our office in Lincolnshire are having a field day this morning. It's so uplifting to watch their aerial acrobatics. From my office window I can also see the remains of the last elderflowers, and silver birches and sycamores in full leaf - and this is all from a town centre building. It just illustrates to me that recording nature's calendar is something you really can do almost anywhere.

As we look ahead to the season of fruiting, we hope we have compiled some unusual facts about blackberries to interest you. Do try the blackberry quiz to test your knowledge of our common wildlife and their diets.

Finally, we hope you'll be interested to hear of the questions researchers are trying to answer using your data. We often receive feedback that it is very important to you all to know exactly how we are using the data you send in.

Best wishes

Kate
